Dan Whitford is the lead singer of renowned Australian band Cut Copy.
DJing and producing has also been a big part of Cut Copy and in particular Whitford’s identity – from the famed mix, Fabriclive.29, to the 2014 Melbourne dance compilation called Oceans Apart, released by Whitford’s own well-respected label Cutters Records. He has been commissioned to remix some of the world’s biggest acts like Maroon 5 and Death Cab For Cutie, as well as underground favorites like The Presets and Juan MacClean.
Cut Copy have also done an installment of the legendary Fabric Live mix albums, and just recently put together "Oceans Apart," a non-stop DJ-mixed compilation of cutting edge dance artists from their hometown of Melbourne.
DJing is a source of inspiration to Whitford, generating both song and remix ideas for the band. It is an opportunity to get close to their fans, a way to have fun, and spread fun. Cut Copy DJ sets are a mix of cutting-edge dance music and classic rock, pop and disco, all expertly mixed together.
